Evelyn Mok

“The Swedish Amy Schumer”
- Comedy Central

“she’s not someone who panders to a room to get them to love her, as proved beyond doubt with a brutal but funny description of her sexual appetite or her period, that carries an inherent ‘sod you’ to any man who’s not comfortable with such talk“
- Steve Bennett, Chortle

Evelyn Mok is the best thing to come out of Sweden since… IKEA? A stand up comedian and actress born in Sweden to immigrant Chinese parents, with a father from Hong Kong and a chinese mother born and raised in Mumbai India, Mok challenges the pre-disposed norms of women in the spotlight with unapologetic style and sharp witted hilarity. Deemed “The Swedish Amy Schumer” by Comedy Central, she tackles her observations on casual racism, the perils of modern femininity and needs must sex with her inimitable joke delivery.

Landing on British soil, Mok was quickly selected for the prestigious Pleasance Theatre Comedy Reserve and Just the Tonic’s Big Value Showcase. She then garnered finalist positions in the Chortle Student Comedy Awards, Up the Creek New Act and Leicester Square New Comedian Awards and now performs stand up comedy all over the UK and Europe. Mok has already been named One to Watch by Time Out Magazine and appeared on BBC’s Edinburgh Fringe showcase BBC Presents, additionally she has performed alongside Sam Simmons in his Comedy Blap Wallstud: Spincycle for Channel 4 and guest stars alongside Tim Renkow in his Comedy Feed A Brief History of Tim for BBC3.

Mok continues to simultaneously run her comedy career in Sweden with numerous appearances on radio and television in the local versions of Fonejacker (Telefonpiraterna), Have I got News for You (Hårdvinklat) and also created Evelyn’s videoblogg her own 10-part webb-series based on one of her comedy characters, which she wrote and starred in for the Swedish National Broadcasting Network (SVT). A staple on the live circuit she has performed at the biggest festivals in the country and supported British comedian Paul Foot on his nationwide tour and Josie Long on her tour of Denmark.

This hilarious and talented comic is boldly breaking rules and sharing the frank reals of modern girl life with very funny consequences. Get her in your life, and go see her live.
