RUSSELL HOWARD'S GOOD NEWS (BBC THREE)

8 OUT OF 10 CATS (CHANNEL 4)

"He's either going to be a huge international or the funniest homeless man ever!" - Jimmy Carr

I’m a stand up comic originally from Canada. I now live in the U.K. in London. I’ve appeared on BBC3?s Russell Howard’s Good News, Channel 4?s 8 Out Of 10 Cats, BBC3?s Seann Walsh Late Night Comedy Spectacular.

I started in Toronto. Before I made money at comedy I was a medical lab rat to support myself. I haven’t done a medical study in over 2 years and counting.

I started in 2005 when I was 19. I did open mics way too long making money money. I supported myself by doing medical studies.

In 2009 I was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Canadian Comedy Awards. Somewhere around that time Doug Stanhope was nice enough to let me open for him. I’ve done that a few times since most notably for 3 days at Leicester Square Theatre. In 2010 I got second place in Stand Up and Bite Me on Bite TV and won $10 000. I used that money to move to London.

Since moving to London, I’ve returned to film my own half hour special on CTV called Comedy Now, performed at the Just For Laughs Festival in 2012 in the Homegrown Competition and in 2013 I was in invited back to perform on a Best Of The Fest Gala with Roastmaster Jeff Ross hosting. In Feb. 2013, I was also lucky enough to get to spend a week doing the HubCap Festival in Moncton, New Brunswick in the coldest weather known to man.
